What Is Ringworm?

Despite its name, Ringworm doesn’t have anything to do with worms. It’s an infection of the skin caused by a fungus. Ringworm is a common and highly infectious skin infection that causes a ring-like red rash on the skin. The rash can appear almost anywhere on the body, with the scalp, feet and groin being common sites. The condition, medically known as “tinea”, is highly contagious but isn’t serious and is usually easily treated using ointments. .

Some causes of Ringworm:

Direct skin-to-skin contact, or contact with contaminated items such as:

-Coming into contact with an infected person or infected surface.
-Grooming items: combs, brushes
-Athletic Equipment: workout mats, weights
-Dirty clothing and bedding
-Showers, pools, saunas and steam rooms
-Infected pets: cats, dogs, rabbits, etc…

The Blue Star Ointment effect: for Ringworm

Directions:

  1. Wash affected area well and towel dry.
  2. Apply a layer of Blue Star Ointment to affected area.
  3. Repeat ringworm cream 3 times daily.
  4. Wash your bed linens, clothing and nightclothes regularly for up to a week after the infection is gone.

***Conditions lasting longer than 4 weeks should seek medical attention.

NOTE: For Sensitive Skin, dilute Blue Star Ointment. To dilute, combine one part petroleum jelly and one part Blue Star Ointment. Apply as directed.
